Alopecia Generalized

Alopecia generalis is another name for generalized alopecia.

Alopecia general (diffuse) is a type of hair loss in which uniform hair loss occurs over the entire surface of the scalp. This is the most common type of alopecia.

The causes of general alopecia can be very different:

  1. Hormonal disorders (for example, after childbirth)

  2. Taking certain medications

  3. Stress and psychological trauma

  4. Thyroid disorders

  5. Lack of vitamins and microelements

  6. Infectious diseases

  7. Autoimmune processes

Diagnosis of general alopecia includes a thorough history taking, examination and analysis of the clinical picture, as well as laboratory tests.

Treatment is selected individually depending on the identified cause and may include hormonal medications, vitamin therapy, physiotherapeutic procedures and other methods. The prognosis with adequate therapy is usually favorable.
