Althea

Althaea is a medicinal plant of the Malvaceae family. The homeland of marshmallow is Central Asia, Transcaucasia and the Mediterranean. Currently, marshmallow is cultivated in many countries, including Russia.

Marshmallow roots are used, containing mucus, tannins, asparagine, betaine, and pectin. Marshmallow has anti-inflammatory, enveloping, expectorant, and antitussive effects.

Used for diseases of the respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract. Available in the form of decoction, infusion, extract, syrup.
