A cardiac aneurysm is a pathological expansion in the wall with subsequent thinning and dissection. It can be the result of both injury and inflammation.
There are two types of chronic cardiac aneurysm: acute and chronic. Acute is formed during a heart attack caused by a rupture of the wall, or as a result of acute or chronic inflammation of the septum. Such an aneurysm is often not accompanied by severe pain and goes away within a few months after the heart attack. The chronic type occurs slowly and may not cause symptoms. This indicates that the walls of the heart muscle are severely damaged and the aneurysm is expanding due to blood pressure.
