Antibodies Homologous

Homologous antibodies are antibodies obtained from a donor of the same species. They are called homologous because they are produced by an organism of the same biological species as the recipient.

Homologous antibodies are usually well tolerated by the recipient because they are genetically identical to the recipient's own antibodies. However, sometimes rejection reactions are still possible due to small genetic differences between the donor and recipient.

In general, homologous antibodies are considered safer and more effective for treatment than heterologous antibodies from another species. They are widely used in medicine to treat various diseases associated with immunodeficiency.
