Arteriole Retina Nasal Inferior

Arteriole of the inferior nasal retina (a. retinae nasalis inferioris, pna; a. retinae nasal inferior, bna; a. retinae nasali inferior, jna; synonym a. nasalis posterior retinae, a. nasal retinae inferior) - an artery supplying blood to the peripheral part of the retina and the visual zone located on it.

The retinal arteriole of the inferior nasal artery (nasalis inferior retinae artery) is a branch of the superior orbital artery, which is formed from the common carotid artery at the level of the internal auditory canal. It passes through the orbit and enters the cranial cavity through the superior orbital fissure. In the cranial cavity, the artery passes through the cavernous sinus and then branches in the region of the optic nerve. It supplies blood to the peripheral part of the retina, including the visual area located on it.
