Dorsal Intertarsal Artery

The intermetatarsal dorsal artery (a. inter metatarsea dorsalis) is a small artery that is located on the back of the foot. It is a branch of the posterior tibial artery and supplies blood to the intermetatarsal spaces, the heel bone and the sole of the foot.

The dorsal intermetatarsal artery can be palpated on the dorsum of the foot between the heel bone and the intermetatarsal space. It runs along the medial wall of the intermetatarsal space and ends on the plantar surface of the foot in the heel area.
