Bufenox: application, action, side effects

Bufenox is a diuretic from the group of loop diuretics, the active substance of which is bumetanide. The drug is produced in Russia by three companies: ICN Polypharm, GNIISKLS and Organika. Bufenox is available in the form of tablets (1 mg), injection solution (0.025%) and as a substance.

Indications for the use of Bufenox include edematous syndrome such as pulmonary and cerebral edema, congestive heart and liver failure, liver cirrhosis, and late toxicosis of pregnancy.

However, like any medicine, Bufenox has a number of contraindications that must be taken into account when using it. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to the drug (as well as to other sulfonamides), acute renal failure, renal coma, decompensated diabetes mellitus, gout, acute hepatitis, hypokalemia and the first trimester of pregnancy.

When using Bufenox, side effects are possible, such as nausea, abdominal pain, dry mouth, thirst, dizziness, muscle weakness, hearing impairment, thrombosis and embolism, hypokalemia, hypochloremia, hyponatremia, hyperuricemia, hyperglycemia.

Since Bufenox is a diuretic, it is necessary to monitor the levels of electrolytes, uric acid and glucose in the blood when using it. It is also worth considering the possible interaction of Bufenox with other drugs, such as aminoglycosides, lithium preparations, potassium-sparing diuretics, probenecid and indomethacin.

There is no evidence of overdose with Bufenox, but its use in large quantities should be avoided.

Thus, Bufenox is a potent diuretic that may be effective in the treatment of edematous conditions. However, its use should be limited only by a doctor, taking into account contraindications and possible side effects.
