A. S. Pushkin’s novel “The Captain’s Daughter” tells the story of Pugachev’s uprising and the peasant uprising led by Emelyan Pugachev. Emelyan Pugachev was the leader of the peasant uprising that broke out in Russia in 1773. Pugachev attracted peasants to participate in his uprising by advocating for their interests, proclaiming slogans in support of the demands of the population.

The uprising covered a vast territory of Russia and by the summer of 1774 it was suppressed and the destruction of the rebel army was completed everywhere
