Cavernous Plexus of Shells

The cavernous plexus of conchae is a complex organ on the surface of the skin, which is a collection of dilated blood vessels and plexuses of nerves located in the thickness of the skin. These organs are present on the human body only in mollusks and nowhere else. The structure of these organs is quite complex. Connective tissue crossbars run along the periphery of the cavernous formations, due to which they are separated from the skin and are called subcutaneous. Inside these formations are pulmonary or pleural folds.
