Daedalon

Daedalon: an effective remedy for nausea and vomiting

Daedalone, also known by its international name Dimenhydrinate, is an H1-histamine receptor blocker and is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by various causes, such as seasickness, air sickness, Meniere's disease and other diseases of the inner ear.

The drug is produced in Hungary by Gedeon Richter A.O. and is available in the form of 50 mg tablets. The active substance is dimenhydrinate. It should be noted that Daedalone is also known under the synonym Dramamine.

When using Daedalon, it is necessary to take into account contraindications and possible side effects. Thus, the drug is not recommended for use in case of hypersensitivity to dimenhydrinate, epilepsy, acute exudative and vesicular dermatoses, as well as during pregnancy (first trimester), lactation and childhood (up to 2 years). Possible side effects include weakness, fatigue, headache, dizziness, anxiety, nervousness, drowsiness, insomnia, decreased night and color vision, impaired accommodation, hypotension, tachycardia, hemolytic anemia, dry oral mucosa, decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, dryness of the mucous membrane of the nose and throat, thickening of bronchial secretions, allergic reactions (skin rash, drug dermatitis), development of drug dependence (with long-term use) and dysuria.

You should also consider possible interactions of Daedalon with other drugs. For example, the drug enhances the effects of atropine, tricyclic antidepressants, catecholamines, barbiturates, alcohol, sedatives and hypnotics, neuroleptics, and weakens the effects of corticosteroids and anticoagulants. When combined with ototoxic antibiotics (streptomycin, neomycin, viomycin, amikacin, kanamycin), hearing impairment is possible, and combination with bismuth, scopolamine, painkillers and psychotropic drugs increases the likelihood of visual impairment.

An overdose of Daedalon may cause symptoms such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, anxiety, hyperactivity, hallucinations, convulsions, tachycardia, hypotension, cardiac arrhythmias, respiratory depression, liver and kidney failure. In case of overdose, it is necessary to carry out symptomatic treatment and evacuation of the stomach.

In general, Daedalon is an effective remedy for nausea and vomiting, but its use should be done with caution and under the supervision of a physician, especially if there are contraindications and when combined with other drugs.
