Dustundan belongs to a group of antifungal drugs with different mechanisms of action.

The international nonproprietary name of the drug is Dustundan.

Dustundan has a wide spectrum of antifungal action. It is active against dermatophytes (Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp., Epidermophyton floccosum), yeast fungi (Candida spp., Cryptococcus neoformans), dimorphic fungi (Blastomyces dermatitidis, Coccidioides immitis, Histoplasma capsulatum, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Sporothrix schenckii) and some molds s mushrooms (Aspergillus spp., Mucor mucedo).

The mechanism of action of Dustundan is to inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the cell membranes of fungi. As a result, the permeability of the fungal cell wall is disrupted, which leads to the death of the fungal cell.

Dustundan is available in the form of tablets and capsules for oral administration. The drug is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration in the blood is reached 2-4 hours after ingestion. The half-life is approximately 30 hours.

Dustundan is used to treat various mycoses of the skin, nails, hair, mucous membranes, as well as deep mycoses (candidiasis, coccidioidosis, histoplasmosis, etc.).

Side effects of Dustundan include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headache. Allergic reactions are possible.

Dustundan is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the drug. Prescribe with caution to patients with impaired liver and/or kidney function.
