Fluorouracil

Fluorouracil (5-FU, alternative code: 7238) is a drug from the group of antimetabolites, an antitumor agent, a natural nucleophile, an analogue of pyrimidine nucleosides, which exhibits high antitumor activity both in vivo and in vitro. The drug blocks DNA synthesis by inhibiting the enzymes deoxynucleotidyl transferase and thymidylate synthetase, which leads to suppression of the formation of nucleic acids and cell death
