Ganglion Basal
The basal ganglion is a group of neurons that is at the base of the nervous system of the brain. It consists of several types of cells, including neurons, glial cells and other elements. The basal ganglia plays an important role in regulating movement and coordinating body movements.
The basal ganglia surrounds the substantia nigra (part of the striatum), the anterior nucleus of the thalamus (sensory area of the thalamus), the globus pallidus, the caudate nucleus and the putamen. Moreover, it does not consist of neurons as such, but of nerve cell bodies and their axons.
