**Ganglion terminal**

The terminal ganglion is an unpaired one of the lateral horns of the spinal nerve (in some sources the horn of the XI or XII pairs of cranial nerves), located on the border between the medulla oblongata and the spinal cord. Ganglia are one or more nerve ganglia in which the terminal (final) branching of cranial nerves occurs. Terminal means final, i.e. closest to tissues and organs. They play an important role, giving rise to afferent nerve fibers, through which information from peripheral receptors (extracerebral sensitivity) enters the brain, and efferent impulses go from the brain to the organs.
