Hyper-

Hyper- is a prefix in compound words (the suffixes -hyper- and -hypo-), meaning the excessive manifestation of something.

Usually, hyper means supernormal, elevated, excessive. The “Big Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language” provides the following definition of this term: “excessively, excessively high, extreme.” Derivative: hyperbolization (a term used to emphasize the excessiveness of some phenomena). Possibly colloquial – hyper-magnification, exaggeration. Examples of words: - Hypersubstance – a substance with a large molecular weight; - hyperplastic (excessive in development, giving something a bulge with mass); - hypoactivity (the body’s activity is lower than normal due to stress or illness).
