Hysteromanometer

A hysteromanometer is a medical device that is used to measure the pressure inside the uterus.

The name of the device comes from a combination of two words: “hystero-” and “manometer”. The prefix "hystero-" indicates that the device is intended to work with the uterus (from the Greek "hystera" - uterus). The second part of the word “manometer” means a device for measuring pressure (from the Greek “manos” - rarity, rarefaction and “metron” - measure).

A hysteromanometer allows you to determine intrauterine pressure, which varies depending on the phase of the menstrual cycle. Increased pressure in the uterus may indicate various gynecological diseases or disorders, therefore hysteromanometry data are important for making an accurate diagnosis and prescribing the correct treatment.

Pressure is measured using a special catheter probe, which is carefully inserted through the cervix into its cavity. Blood pressure readings are recorded and analyzed by a doctor.

Thus, the hysteromanometer is an important diagnostic tool in gynecology.
