Glibomet

Glibomet: antidiabetic drug from Italy

Glibomet is an antidiabetic drug developed in Italy and manufactured by Laboratori Guidotti and Menarini Group. It contains two active ingredients: glibenclamide and metformin. Glibenclamide belongs to the group of sulfonylureas, and metformin belongs to the biguanides.

Glibomet is intended for the treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type 2) in case of ineffectiveness of diet therapy or monotherapy with oral hypoglycemic drugs. The drug helps lower blood sugar levels, improves tissue sensitivity to insulin and reduces the risk of complications associated with diabetes.

However, Glibomet also has contraindications. It is not recommended for hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type 1), hypoglycemia, diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic precoma and coma, pregnancy, breastfeeding, lactic acidosis (history), severe diseases accompanied by decreased liver and/or kidney function and/or hypoxic condition.

When using Glibomet, side effects may be observed related to carbohydrate metabolism, gastrointestinal tract, hematopoietic system, nervous system, allergic and immunopathological reactions, skin and metabolism. If symptoms of lactic acidosis appear (vomiting, abdominal pain, general weakness, muscle cramps), you should stop taking the drug and consult a doctor immediately.

Glibomet may also interact with other medicines. For example, the hypoglycemic effect is enhanced by dicumarol, beta-blockers, cimetidine and some other drugs, and weakened by adrenaline, corticosteroids, etc.

Treatment with Glibomet should only be carried out under medical supervision. When taking the drug, you must follow a diet and self-monitor your blood sugar levels. If undesirable effects occur, you should consult your doctor to adjust the dosage or replace the drug.

Thus, Glibomet is an effective drug for the treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, but it can also cause side effects and has a number of contraindications, so its use should only be prescribed by a doctor and carried out under his supervision. It is important to monitor your blood sugar levels and consult a doctor if any adverse reactions occur. In addition, when using Glibomet, it is necessary to take into account possible interactions with other drugs and follow a diet.
