Goniotome is the medical term used to describe the procedure of cutting the femoral canal. The procedure involves cutting the inner lining of the vessel located in the fossa between the head and neck of the femur. In this case, a special surgical instrument is used, which is known as a goniotome or vascular knife. After cutting the membrane, it moves apart, making it possible to determine the places where adhesions were located and prevent the formation of blood clots.
The goniotome is used to remove adhesions in certain vascular diseases, such as varicose veins and arteriovenous veins.
Goniotomy is an operation to change the shape and size of the femoral head. It can be both emergency and planned. The intervention can be open or closed. With the latter, all operations are performed arthroscopically. The bone is cut without unnecessary pressure, without increasing trauma not only to the ligaments, but also to adjacent tissues. Goniotomy can be done in the following cases: - Ankylosing spondylitis (ankylosis); - post-traumatic endoprosthesis; - fracture of the patella;
endoprosthetics of the intervertebral disc in the lumbar spine (Paget-Schretter symptom); pathological fractures. With its help you can fix
Goniotomy is a surgical procedure to separate or excise the ankle ligament of the knee joint.
The internal capsule of the patella is divided exactly along the cruciate ligament in the transverse direction. Having separated the condyles of the patellar bone with a cruciate ligament, both menisci are cut and removed: the external one, if necessary, and the internal one, if the medial condyle is larger than the lateral one, or vice versa, it is possible to dissect the internal meniscus if the external one is somewhat shortened. In order for the area of study to be sufficiently visible and from the best side, the fat pad of the lateral surface of the patellar region is sometimes excised.
