Groin area

The groin area is the area located between the thigh and sacrum. It is triangular in shape and includes the inguinal canal, which is the location of the spermatic cord and blood vessels. The groin area contains muscles, nerves, blood vessels, lymph nodes and adipose tissue. The functions of this area are to improve the movement of the lower extremities, protect the reproductive organs from damage, participate in the rotation of the body, etc. The groin area can be damaged during wounds, trauma, and operations. In such cases, hematoma, swelling, and suppuration may occur. When lymphatic vessels are damaged, lymphedema can develop. You can also often encounter inguinal hernias. In essence, this hernia is a prolapse of the viscera of the abdominal cavity into the inguinal opening through weak tissues of the inguinal wall or, conversely, non-closure of the peritoneal sac (as opposed to a “traumatic” hernia that occurs due to injury). This can lead to infringement of the latter due to compression of the protruding organs by the skin. Often, inguinal hernias develop as a result of strangulation of the omentum or intestines. Inguinal hernias occur in both men and women. The outcome of treatment for inguinal hernias depends on how deeply the hernial sac has spread towards the inner surface of the abdominal wall. If this is minor, surgery to remove the pathological formation is performed as planned. However, if there is a pronounced spread along the inner surface, only plastic surgery is performed to fuse the outer integument with the peritoneal wall of the inner groin area, usually it is performed under local anesthesia. The operation takes about an hour, after which the patient can go home.

**The groin region** is one of the four regions of the human body, which is located between the thigh and the peritoneum. It contains a number of important structures such as inguinal vessels, lymph nodes, muscles, nerves and skin. It is important to understand that this is not just an ordinary place, but an important and sensitive organ that can be damaged if used incorrectly.

**What is the groin area?**

The groin region is part of the abdominal cavity and is present in both men and women; it connects two areas of the abdominal cavity - the pelvic and thoracic. The pelvic region is responsible for the production of male hormones, the reproductive system and the groin area, while the thoracic region envelops the heart, lungs and liver. In medicine, there are two approaches to defining the concept of “inguinal”.

The first defines the area as a strip of skin in the lower abdomen in people of both sexes, where the external inguinal
