Hematopoietic System

Hematopoietic system

Blood is the liquid tissue of the body, continuously moving through the vessels, penetrating all organs and tissues and, as it were, connecting them. The main functions of blood: transport, protective, regulatory. Blood consists of a liquid part - plasma and formed elements.

Formed elements are formed in the hematopoietic organs - bone marrow, spleen and lymph nodes. Blood cells: red blood cells, leukocytes, platelets.

Red blood cells are red cells containing hemoglobin. Carry out gas exchange.

Leukocytes are white cells that perform a protective function.

Platelets are non-nuclear cells that participate in blood clotting.

Bone marrow is the main hematopoietic organ. It is where blood cells mature from stem cells.

The spleen is involved in hematopoiesis and performs a protective function.

Lymph nodes produce lymphocytes.

Hematopoiesis is a continuous process of maintaining normal blood composition. Regulated by the nervous and endocrine systems.
