Chondroma proliferating

Chondroma proliferans is a rare benign neoplasm of cartilage tissue. This tumor is characterized by slow infiltrating growth into the surrounding soft tissue with the formation of multiple nodules of cartilaginous tissue.

Chondroma proliferating most often occurs in the small tubular bones of the hands and feet in adults. The disease is asymptomatic for a long time, manifesting itself only in enlargement and deformation of the affected bones. X-ray reveals multiple rounded foci of bone tissue loss with clear boundaries.

Treatment for proliferating chondroma involves surgical excision of the affected area of the bone. The prognosis is favorable; relapses after radical tumor removal are extremely rare.
