Inosine triphosphate

Inosine triphosphate - see Inosine triphosphoric acid.

Inosine triphosphoric acid (ITP, IPP) is an organic compound that is an ester of inosine and three phosphoric acid residues. It is an important link in the metabolism of purine nucleotides. It is formed as a result of the hydrolysis of ATP or GTP under the action of the enzymes adenosine triphosphatase or guanosine triphosphatase, respectively. Can be converted back to ATP or GTP in phosphorylation reactions catalyzed by nucleoside diphosphate kinases. Plays a key role in the regulation of purine metabolism.
