Iteration Propulsion

Motor iteration (i. motoria) is the repetition of the same movements or actions. Such repetitive movements are often observed in some mental disorders.

Motor iterations may include rocking, tapping, hand rubbing, and other stereotypic movements. They help relieve internal tension, anxiety, and restlessness.

Iterations are more common in autism, schizophrenia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. They can also be observed in a state of severe stress, with mental retardation.

Motor iterations are mostly harmless but can interfere with social adaptation and learning. If necessary, drug therapy and behavioral correction are used to relieve them.
