Janetization

Janetization is a term that refers to the use of Janet's method.

The Janet method is an approach to teaching developed by French educator Célestin Frenet in the early 20th century. It is based on the ideas of freedom, activity and independence of the child in the learning process.

Basic principles of the Janet method:

  1. Priority of the child's interests and needs over the curriculum. The child learns what interests him, and not according to an imposed plan.

  2. Free, unregulated activities of children. No strict schedule or mandatory classes.

  3. A developing subject-spatial environment that stimulates the child’s activity and independence.

  4. The role of the teacher is observation, support of the child’s initiative and independence in learning.

Janetization involves the maximum use of the principles and approaches of the Janet method in education.
