Jaundice Leptospirosis

Jaundice leptospirosis

Leptospirosis jaundice is another name for the icteric form of leptospirosis.

Leptospirosis is an acute infectious disease caused by spirochetes of the genus Leptospira. Characterized by fever, intoxication, liver and kidney damage.

In the icteric form of leptospirosis, jaundice caused by liver damage comes to the fore. Hepatitis with cholestasis develops, which leads to the accumulation of bilirubin in the blood and the appearance of yellowness of the skin and sclera.

Diagnosis is based on the clinical picture, epidemiological data and laboratory confirmation (microagglutination reaction, PCR).

Treatment includes antibiotic therapy, detoxification, and hepatoprotectors. The prognosis is favorable with timely treatment.
