Potassium

Potassium is an element of the periodic table, a metal with atomic number 19. The third most abundant element in the earth's crust after oxygen and silicon. Potassium is a soft alkaline metal with a silvery-white color.

The potassium content in the earth's crust is from 2.62 to 3.25%, which determines its high geochemical significance and distribution in nature in the form of various compounds. On land there is a lot of it only in some salt marshes; in very small quantities it is found in various salts of the seas and oceans.
