Koenig-Muller Plastic

Koenig-Muller plastic

Koenig-Mullerplasty is a surgical operation to restore joint mobility. It was developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by German surgeons Friedrich Koenig and Wilhelm Müller.

This operation is used for contractures (limited mobility) of large joints resulting from injuries, burns, prolonged immobilization or inflammatory diseases.

The essence of the operation is to excise the scar tissue around the joint and replace the defect with a skin flap. This allows you to eliminate scar changes that impede movement in the joint and restore its mobility.

Koenig-Muller plastic surgery is most often used for contractures of the knee and elbow joints. This operation played an important role in the development of reconstructive surgery and is still used to treat limited joint mobility.
