Leukemia Neutrophilic

Neutrophilic leukemia is a malignant disease of the hematopoietic system, in which there is an uncontrolled proliferation of immature neutrophils in the bone marrow, blood and other organs.

Causes:

  1. Mutations in genes regulating the development of myeloid cells
  2. Exposure to ionizing radiation
  3. Previous cytostatic treatment

Symptoms:

  1. Weakness, fatigue
  2. Increased body temperature
  3. Pale skin and mucous membranes
  4. Bleeding and bruising
  5. Enlarged lymph nodes
  6. Bone pain

Diagnosis is based on a blood test, sternal puncture and cytochemical study of bone marrow cells.

Treatment includes chemotherapy, blood stem cell transplantation, and symptomatic therapy.

The prognosis depends on the form and stage of the disease, usually unfavorable.
