Lipomal

Lipomal: lipid-lowering agent for cholesterol control

Lipomal, also known by the international name Probucol, is a lipid-lowering drug produced in Macedonia by the Alkaloid company. It belongs to the pharmacological group of probucol, which is widely used to treat lipid metabolism disorders associated with increased levels of cholesterol or low-density lipoproteins.

Lipomal is presented in the form of tablets containing 250 mg of the active substance Probucol. This drug is effective in cases of primary or secondary hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia and combined forms of lipid metabolism disorders, when diet or exercise do not have a sufficient hypocholesterolemic effect.

However, before using Lipomal, contraindications must be taken into account. The drug is not recommended for hypersensitivity to the components, acute or recent myocardial infarction, ventricular arrhythmias, an increase in the QT interval on the ECG at rest by more than 15% of the upper limit of normal, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.

Like other medicines, Lipomal may also have side effects. In some cases, patients may experience flatulence, diarrhea, and nausea. Rarely, dizziness and allergic reactions such as itchy skin may occur.

At the moment, there is no reliable information about the interaction of Lipomal with other drugs or about a possible overdose. There are also no special instructions for the use of this drug.

Information about Lipomal is based on the reference book "Medicines" by M.A. Klyuev, published in 2001. It should be noted that new data and recommendations may have become available since then, so it is recommended that you consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Lipomal to get the most current information about the drug.
