Trochlear muscle

Muscles of the head and neck

Muscles starting from the lateral surface of the skull that elevate the eyeball. A non-permanent muscle that exists in three pairs. First, three bundles are formed, which are directed towards the eye, and then they merge and form a tendon that attaches to the outer corner of the orbit. When the muscle contracts, the eyeball rises and is set at an angle of 45 degrees to the plane of the head. Using this muscle we can turn our head towards the abducted eye. The muscle can be found under the codooculomotor nerve, which arises from the brain stem.
