Nevus Pigmented Borderline

Pigment border nevus (n. pigmentosus junctivus; synonym n. junctivus) is a benign skin neoplasm, which is an accumulation of melanocytes (pigment cells).

This type of nevus is localized at the junction of the epidermis and dermis, hence its name “borderline”. It may be flat or slightly raised above the surface of the skin.

The color of border pigment nevus is usually brown or black, sometimes with a grayish tint. Its size ranges from a few millimeters to 1-1.5 cm.

Such nevi often appear in childhood and adolescence. They can be located on any part of the skin, but the most typical location is the face, neck, and chest.

Pigmented borderline nevi are usually benign and do not require treatment. However, regular monitoring of them by a dermatologist is recommended to exclude the appearance of signs of malignant degeneration.

A border pigment nevus is a skin formation that is a type of mole. Usually it has a diameter of no more than 2 cm and is located on a thin stalk in the skin of the neck, face or back. Nevi of this type are usually congenital, that is, they appear in the first months of a child’s life. However, their appearance can be caused not only by genetic predisposition, but also by nutritional disorders, chemicals and other factors.

Borderline nevi are the subject of discussion in medicine and cosmetology. The first recommendations for the fight against nevi began in ancient times. During the times of Ancient Egypt, doctors did not have special education, but they were able to use natural remedies to treat skin lesions. For example, one simple method of dealing with nevus is using vinegar, lemon juice or olive oil. The components of these products have an antibacterial effect, which helps fight inflammatory skin processes. Also very effective remedies were dishwashing detergent (this product contains sodium bicarbonate) and a paste with iodine or brilliant green, which are applied to the mole. Another treatment method was offered in the East, in China. For many peoples of China, the diagnostic criterion is the position of the source of the disease in relation to parts of the body. The location, color and type of tumor are also important. Based on these indicators, a conclusion was made about the cause of the nevus and the method of its destruction.

There are also medications that are used in the treatment of borderline nevi. For example, “pure” cream is a natural antiseptic that is produced in a pharmacy and applied to the lesions using an applicator. Thanks to the cream, the affected areas heal faster and the risk of relapses is reduced. In any case, medical approval must be obtained before using any medications or treatments without consulting a doctor. Only then can the possible consequences of self-medication be avoided.
