Pharyngitis Chronic Dry

Chronic dry pharyngitis is an inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa that lasts more than 3 months and is characterized by dry mucous membranes without mucus production.

Reasons for development:

  1. Frequent acute pharyngitis, which becomes chronic
  2. Long-term exposure to irritating factors - dry air, smoke, dust
  3. Hormonal disorders
  4. Diabetes

Symptoms:

  1. Constant feeling of dryness and sore throat
  2. Pain and discomfort when swallowing
  3. Sensation of a foreign body in the throat
  4. Coughing, dry cough

Diagnosis is based on medical history, examination of the throat and exclusion of other diseases.

Treatment:

  1. Eliminating irritants
  2. Air humidification
  3. Gargling with herbal decoctions
  4. Local anti-inflammatory drugs
  5. Physiotherapy
  6. If necessary, hormonal medications

The prognosis with adequate treatment is favorable. In a chronic course, remissions and exacerbations are possible.
