Reasons for development:
- Frequent acute pharyngitis, which becomes chronic
- Long-term exposure to irritating factors - dry air, smoke, dust
- Hormonal disorders
- Diabetes
Symptoms:
- Constant feeling of dryness and sore throat
- Pain and discomfort when swallowing
- Sensation of a foreign body in the throat
- Coughing, dry cough
Diagnosis is based on medical history, examination of the throat and exclusion of other diseases.
Treatment:
- Eliminating irritants
- Air humidification
- Gargling with herbal decoctions
- Local anti-inflammatory drugs
- Physiotherapy
- If necessary, hormonal medications
The prognosis with adequate treatment is favorable. In a chronic course, remissions and exacerbations are possible.
