Polcortolone TC: Combined drug for the treatment of skin diseases

Polcortolone TC is a combination drug produced in Poland by the Tarchominsky pharmaceutical plant SA Polfa Polska. It belongs to the pharmaceutical group of drugs containing glucocorticosteroids.

The composition of Polcortolone TC includes two active components - tetracycline and triamcinolone. The medicine is presented in the form of an aerosol, which makes it easier to apply to the affected areas of the skin.

Polcortolone TC is used to treat various skin diseases, such as allergic dermatoses (atopic dermatitis, eczema, urticaria), complicated by secondary bacterial infections, infectious skin diseases, impetigo, furunculosis, folliculitis, hidradenitis, erysipelas and others.

However, Polcortolon TC has some contraindications. The drug is not recommended in case of hypersensitivity to its components, as well as in case of viral, fungal and tuberculous skin lesions, the presence of tumors and precancerous conditions of the skin, glaucoma, during the period of vaccination, in case of violation of the integrity of the skin at the sites of application of the drug, in children under 3 years of age, during during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Some side effects may occur when using Polcortolone TC, including itching, skin irritation, purpura (bruising), photosensitivity (increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight). Rare side effects include acne, post-steroid vascular purpura, inhibition of epidermal growth, dry skin, increased hair growth, pigmentation, skin atrophy and telangiectasia.

There is no reliable information yet on the interaction of Polcortolone TC with other drugs. There is also no evidence of an overdose of this drug.

When using Polcortolone TC, some special instructions must be observed. Use it with caution in children over 3 years of age and in people with atrophic skin changes, especially in old age, as well as on the face. The areas of skin to which the drug is applied must be protected from direct sunlight. When spraying the aerosol, protect your eyes and avoid inhaling the drug. If Polcortolone TC comes into contact with the eyes, they should be rinsed with plenty of water.
