Proximal: the essence of the concept
The key meaning of the term “proximal” (from the Latin procentrum - “approximately”) is to define the space located close to the surface of an object. In accordance with the English-language origin of a similar term, it also carries the meaning of “nearest,” which most closely corresponds in meaning to our Latin concept. Thus, the next (depending on the context) link in a chain of sequentially connected objects or an attribute of an object located in close proximity to the mentioned object is called proximal. To summarize, we can say that proximal are usually those elements or parameters whose value is to a certain extent related to the parameters of the object of definition itself.
