Proprioceptor

**Proprioception** is the body’s ability to assess the position of body parts in space and the kinematic parameters of their movement, and send information about this to the brain (for example, consciousness). Proprioceptors are localized in muscles, ligaments and joints, as well as in the spinal cord.

_They help us maintain balance and perform complex movements._

A proprioceptor is a special receptor that registers our position in space. It is located in muscle tendons, joint capsules and ligaments, and in the inner ear. When we move, proprioceptors receive information about the position of the body in space and send it to the brain, where it is processed and helps us navigate in space.

There are several types of proprioceptors: **tactile, kinesthetic and vibration**. The tactile type is responsible for the perception of touch, and the kinesthetic type is responsible for the sensation of the weight and shape of an object. The vibration type is the most complex and provides us with a sense of the position and movement of the body in space due to various forces acting on our senses.

When we stand, our legs and arms begin to move, which leads to changes in the position of our bodies and ligaments. The proprioceptor receives signals that enter our brain. These signals are then transmitted to other parts of our nervous system and help us understand how we stand and what we are doing.

In addition, proprioception is of great importance for our posture. When our muscles are tense or relaxed in different parts of the body, they also affect the position of our body. Thanks to this, our body is able to maintain correct posture, ensure muscle relaxation and prevent diseases of the musculoskeletal system (neurological diseases) and problems with coordination of movements.

Overall, proprioception plays an important role in our health and fitness. If we don't develop our muscles and exercise regularly, our ligaments and joints can lose their flexibility and become weaker. This can lead to serious illness and injury, but developing muscles and maintaining normal body posture throughout the day is a great preventative against these health problems. Therefore, if you want to maintain your health and improve your fitness, it is important to develop judgment and devote time to sports and fitness training
