Pectoralis minor syndrome occurs with various diseases, after operations, with injuries and prolonged stay in a certain position. It manifests itself as pain in the upper chest. This area is also called the "heart", "left side" or "under the breast". The syndrome may be accompanied by discomfort in the arms, shoulders, and neck. Chest pain can be aching, burning, sharp, shooting, or dull.
The most common causes of pectoralis minor syndrome are osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine (thoracic radiculitis), myofascial syndrome (muscle damage due to overexertion), or it may be associated with heart pathology.
