Tendon United

The conjoined tendon is the tendon of the muscle of the upper eyelid, which is located in front of the attachment of the lower lacrimal gland to the edge of the cartilage. It has the shape of a triangle with rounded corners, the base of which is located on the lacrimal caruncle, and the apex on the papilla of the superior turbinate of the ethmoid bone.

The tendon has two connected surfaces: the anterior one is tendon and the posterior one is mucous; it passes through the inner surface of the eyelid onto the eyeball. A significant part of the muscle is attached to the tendon. Therefore, around the tendon is the orbicularis muscle, which forms the gap between the lower eyelid and the inner surface of the eye.
