Tramadol

Tramadol is a drug belonging to the group of opioid analgesics and is a phenylperidine derivative.

The history of tramadol began in the early 1950s, when German researchers began experimenting with the creation of new drugs based on phenacetin, a pyrrolidine derivative found in codeine. One of the products of these experiments was Tramal, the first opioid analgesic created in Germany. Subsequently, tramal became a fairly popular drug in medicine. However, over time, side effects and limitations in its use began to arise in some patients, and a high probability of addiction to it was identified, which raised concerns about the safety of its use. Therefore, after some time, various manufacturers stopped producing Tramal and began to develop new derivatives of this group of drugs.

So in the 90s, a group of German researchers began working on the creation of a new phenyliperidine derivative, which was supposed to have a milder effect, but have similar effectiveness. They have developed a new opioid analgesic, tramadol, which has extremely low toxicity and less dependence. Currently, tramadol is included in the list of the most effective painkillers and is used to treat various types of pain, including, for example, post-operative, dental, migraine
