Vascular tone

Vascular tone is a constant tension in the walls of blood vessels, counteracting their stretching under the influence of blood pressure. Vascular tone is maintained by contraction of the smooth muscles of the vascular wall. It regulates the lumen of blood vessels and blood flow in them, ensuring adequate blood supply to organs and tissues. Violations of vascular tone can lead to changes in blood pressure, the development of tissue ischemia or edema. Regulation of vascular tone is carried out by the nervous and humoral systems of the body.

Vascular tone is the constant tension of their walls and the ability to resist stretching. In some cases, a decrease in vascular tone can lead to disruption of the cardiovascular system and various diseases, such as arterial hypertension or venous insufficiency. To maintain normal vascular tone, it is necessary to perform a number of measures, including proper nutrition, exercise, limiting alcohol consumption and smoking, giving up bad habits, as well as constant monitoring by a doctor.
