Vein Vertebral External

External vertebral vein, or v. vertebralis externa (lat.), is one of the vessels that form the venous network in the spine. It is one of the branches of the external vertebral vein, which, in turn, is a branch of the external jugular vein.

The external vertebral vein starts from the outer surface of the spine and runs along its posterior surface, passing through the intervertebral foramina and connecting with other branches of the vertebral venous network. It takes part in the venous outflow of blood from the spinal cord and other spinal structures.

It is important to note that if the venous outflow of blood from the spine is disrupted, the external vertebral vein can cause swelling and pain. Therefore, if you experience symptoms related to the external vertebral vein, you should consult a doctor to diagnose and treat possible diseases that may be associated with this vein.
