Military Medical School

The Military Medical (Higher Command and Engineering) School was founded in St. Petersburg in 1992 as an educational institution for training military doctors. The opening at a time when military medical personnel were in short supply aroused great interest among applicants, and after two years the number of applicants exceeded 500 people. Students were trained in core professional subjects, which included human anatomy, clinical pathology, internal medicine and surgery. After successful completion of training, students received military ranks and could serve in various military medical units, including treatment and training centers.
