Nuclei of Cranial Nerves Initial

The cranial nerve nuclei begin to develop in utero. The changes that occur in the fetal nervous system during this period are called embryogenesis. They are associated with a number of complex functions and create the basis for subsequent stages of postnatal development of the nervous system. In a newborn, 6 sensory cranial nerves emerge from the forebrain: oculomotor, trochlear, abducens, trigeminal, olfactory and glossopharyngeal.

At the end of the second
