W. Ewart (June 3, 1837 - November 13, 1928) and Théodore Albert Thiers (also known as T. Teissier) (May 17, 1854 - November 5, 1892) - French doctors, pioneers in the field of dermatology.
Ewert was a French physician of German origin who practiced in Brussels for many years and made important contributions to the development of dermatology, in particular through the invention of the original slate instrument for skin microscopy. He also developed a method for manual flask analysis of blood elements and a method for treating purulent wounds with an antiseptic and a dressing agent (Iodine-kalimga). Ewert is often cited as the first president of the International Society of Dermatology (1878), as a professional colleague of J. Michel Faure, who was also a pioneer in the field.
