Keratoconjunctivitis Scrofulous

Sclerosing keratoconjunctivitis, copperhead disease, iris dermatosis - these are the names of two eye diseases that are completely different in clinical manifestations. The first is associated with infection of the body with the causative agent of tuberculosis, the second with staphylococcus. The lesion primarily affects the area of the cornea and conjunctiva.

In ophthalmology, there are several types of infectious-allergic diseases of the eyelids and eyeball with different etiologies: allergic, autoimmune, rhinogenic.

One of the most common infectious ophthalmological pathologies in children is a disease called Croft conjunctivitis or ocular chickenpox. It belongs to the group of quarantine pathologies, as it has a tendency to spread epidemically, while it is not classified as a contagious focal disease in children. The causes of conjunctivitis in adults and children are twofold - it is usually either viral or bacterial conjunctivitis in acute form. Infection occurs as a result of contact with a sick person, less often by airborne droplets, but the direct participation of a mechanical object in the transmission of the virus is excluded. In any case, the incubation period of the disease ranges from several hours to a week. During this time, a person develops symptoms characteristic of conjunctivitis, which is characterized by red swelling of the mucous membrane, itching and discharge from the eyes.
