Copaifera

Copaiferaofucirtalis (copaiba)

True copaiba balsam, or copaiba balsam, is obtained from certain species of trees of the botanical genus Copaifera. These powerful tropical legumes are native to South America. The diameter of the trunks of old trees reaches 3 m, and the height is 35 m. Many years ago, the Indians began to extract from them by tapping a yellow-brown viscous liquid with a pleasant aroma, sometimes up to 20 kg from one tree.

Subsequently, copai balsam was purchased from local residents for the paint, pharmaceutical and perfume industries. From the balm, an essential oil with a woody-spicy, slightly sweet aroma and a light peppery note is obtained by steam distillation.
