Good day! Today I will talk about a popular product from NYX - HD Studio Finishing Powder.

I have been using this powder periodically for about a year; before that I only used regular compact ones with a beige tint. The packaging is made of transparent plastic, you can immediately see how much product is left in the jar. The lid is black and screws on tightly. Initially, there was a sticker that prevented scattering; there was no additional limiter, so the powder easily scattered during transportation; it was intended mainly for use at home.

The holes are quite large, so at the beginning of use it is easy to pour out too much, but when less than half remains, this becomes rather a plus - you don’t need to shake the jar for a long time, you get out exactly as much as you need. But if the powder gets into the thread of the lid, opening and closing it is problematic.

The volume at first glance is small - only 6 grams, but I managed to stretch it out for almost a year, because I used it quite rarely in winter. I apply with a synthetic fluffy powder brush; a light touch on the bottle is enough to cover the entire face. I read that the powder can be used as a primer, but I haven’t tried it yet.

The grinding is very fine, on my skin the powder is completely transparent, but I heard that on dark skin you can overdo it and then it can whiten a little. White spots on the face can also be a surprise when photographing with a flash if the powder is applied unevenly and in too dense a layer.

It sets the tone well, prolongs the durability of makeup and makes the skin very pleasant to the touch. The finish is matte, but not completely, but quite natural - just what you need for oily and combination skin. There is also an HD effect, the face looks smoother due to the diffusion of light.

I used it both in summer and winter - in summer the powder extended the matteness of the skin for up to 5 hours even in the heat, but during the day the makeup did not float anywhere, just a shine appeared in the T-zone. There was no need to touch up my makeup in winter. When used with CC Cream Lumene and Healthy Mix Bourjois does the job completely, but with Long Cover Fluid Paese the matte finish only lasts a couple of hours, it has a rather dewy finish and is too hydrating for my combination skin.

The composition of the powder is completely simple - Silica (silicon dioxide), a completely mineral component. It is this that ensures the absorption of sweat and excess sebum, makes the skin smooth and diffuses light. The substance is quite volatile, so at first, when you open the lid, a small cloud of powder rises above the jar. The powder does not clog pores, it has made my skin much better, it seems to me that it has even become less oily, so I am not sure that it is suitable for dry skin for every day.

To summarize, I can say that the powder is quite decent for its price, it sets makeup and prolongs its durability, but you shouldn’t expect matting miracles from it either. I recommend it for normal and combination skin; for oily skin, it’s still better to look for something more mattifying.
