Oxafenamide: use, action, side effects

Oxafenamide (international name - Osalmid) is a choleretic agent produced by the Russian companies ICN Tomskkhimpharm and Tatkhimpharmpreparaty. The dosage form of oxafenamide is tablets with two dosages: 250 mg and 500 mg. The active ingredient is osalmide.

Oxafenamide is used for chronic cholecystitis, cholangitis, cholelithiasis, as well as for preparation for duodenal intubation to enhance bile secretion. The medicine helps improve digestion and prevents the formation of gallstones.

Contraindications to the use of oxafenamide are acute inflammatory and severe degenerative processes in the liver. Side effects include diarrhea and allergic reactions.

There are no data on the interaction of oxafenamide with other drugs, and there is no information on overdose and special instructions.

Oxafenamide is an effective choleretic agent, but its use should only be done after consultation with a doctor. It is recommended to follow the dosage and not exceed the recommended period of use of the medicine.
