Pancytopenia

Pancytopenia (Latin pancytopēnia - “absence of all cell sprouts”; synonym: panhemocytopenia; anemiagenic dilemma) is a clinical and hematological syndrome that develops as a result of a reduction in the number of circulating red blood cells or a decrease in the level of hemoglobin, platelets and granulocytes to critical values at which in the peripheral blood there are no other cell sprouts of the blood system.

Pancytopenia is a condition in which a pronounced pancytosis is observed in the blood with an absolutely reduced content in the peripheral blood of all three hematopoietic lineages: leukocytes, granulocytes and platelets.

In 98% of cases, the cause of P.’s development is idiopathic aplastic anemia
