Vero-Dexamethasone: use, composition, indications and contraindications

Vero-Dexamethasone is a drug belonging to the group of drugs with glucocorticosteroid activity. The drug is produced by Veropharm and the Belgorod branch in Russia. It contains the international name - dexamethasone, and is used to treat a wide range of diseases.

Composition and dosage forms

Vero-Dexamethasone is available as an injection solution with a concentration of 4 mg/ml. The main active ingredient is dexamethasone, which is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid.

Indications for use

Vero-Dexamethasone is used to treat a variety of conditions, including:

1. Addison's disease
2. Congenital adrenal hypoplasia
3. Adrenal insufficiency (usually in combination with mineralocorticoids)
4. Adrenogenital syndrome
5. Thyroiditis (acute, subacute), hypothyroidism
6. Tumor hypercalcemia
7. Shock (anaphylactic, post-traumatic, postoperative, cardiogenic, blood transfusion, etc.)
8. Rheumatoid arthritis in the acute phase, acute rheumatic carditis, collagenosis (rheumatic diseases; disseminated lupus erythematosus, etc.)
9. Inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the joints (arthritis, tenosynovitis, bursitis, epicondylitis, styloiditis, osteochondrosis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, etc.)
10. Myositis
11. Infectious-allergic bronchial asthma, status asthmaticus (i.v., i.m.)
12. Allergic and anaphylactoid reactions, incl. drug-induced
13. Dermatitis (contact, atopic, exfoliative, blistering, herpetiformis, seborrheic, etc.), psoriasis, eczema, erythema multiforme exudative, pemphigus, mycosis fungoides, erythroderma and other skin diseases
14. Brain edema (with tumors, traumatic brain injury, neurosurgical intervention, cerebral hemorrhage, encephalitis, meningitis, radiation damage to the lungs (IV, IM)
15. Nonspecific ulcerative colitis, hepatitis, sarcoidosis, berylliosis, disseminated tuberculosis (only in combination with antibacterial drugs), leukemia, lymphoma and other diseases accompanied by immunodeficiency.

Contraindications

The drug Vero-Dexamethasone is contraindicated in the following cases:

1. Hypersensitivity to dexamethasone or any other component of the drug
2. Systemic fungal infections
3. Viral eye infections (herpes, chicken pox)
4. Eye surgeries
5. Joint surgery (during the first 8-12 weeks after surgery)
6. Cardiovascular diseases in the acute phase (acute heart failure, myocardial infarction, arterial hypertension, etc.)
7. Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the acute phase
8. Period after vaccination with live vaccines
9. Pregnancy and lactation period.

The drug Vero-Dexamethasone should be taken only as prescribed by a doctor and under his supervision. During the course of treatment, it is necessary to regularly monitor the patient's condition and adjust the dosage if necessary.
