I have long wanted to make a comparison of my favorite concealers (or correctors, whichever you prefer). Basically, all the products are of excellent quality and if you buy any of these, you can't go wrong. When “everyone is good in their own way,” they choose the most universal one.

And although versatility for a concealer is a questionable quality. After all, when used in the eye area, it should give a delicate, almost transparent coating, blending perfectly with the skin color, and when masking imperfections, the coverage should be dense, the formula should be long-lasting and there should be no shine. However, nothing is impossible.

Clarins Concealer Stick:

Shade: 02 Soft beige

One of the best concealers I know. Oddly enough, he is not very popular among cosmetic store consultants. It is rarely recommended, preferring vague tubes with brushes. It is possible that some people associate this Clarins shape with the rough concealer pencils of the 90s. And in vain. After all, it is he who successfully combines a wonderful texture and serious masking properties.

When applied, the concealer literally melts and, turning into a kind of foundation, fills wrinkles, hides unevenness and masks imperfections. That is why this concealer can be safely used in the area around the eyes, achieving a light translucent coverage.

It copes not only with dark circles, but also with redness and small pimples. Actually, this is the second remedy that I can remember that can mask unexpected and unwanted inflammation. Do not perform the dubious ritual of mixing foundation and powder with applying concealer three times, but rather reliably mask it. Considering that I use either foundation, powder, or “tinted moisturizer” in everyday makeup, “maximum coverage with minimal application” is my strict requirement. The shape of the stick is wonderful, ergonomic and easy to use. I wish it could become a universal concealer. But.

About versatility: no

There is only a small “but”. It is absorbed very quickly, not so instantly... No, in order to understand what “unforgivably fast” means, it’s enough to test a concealing pencil from ysl. But, nevertheless, inconveniences during application do occur. And the very thought that you need to have time to shade it before it merges with the skin is “stressful”...

Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation SPF 15 from La Prairie

Shade: Soft beige

A brilliant camouflage artist. It's not clear why la prairie won't release this concealer as a standalone product. I get the most pleasant feeling from “wearing” decorative cosmetics from him. It does not dry out the skin, does not give the feeling of “endless hydration”, in which you always want to look at yourself in the mirror and find out whether your eyelids are running away. Also, the concealer is perfect as a base for eye shadows, because it “fixes” tightly on the skin, and does not clog into folds and wrinkles either after an hour, or two, or by the end of the day.
Folds and wrinkles, by the way, are a big problem for me, because nature gave me many, many “shar-peis” in the eyelid area, which increase and deepen with age.

At first, the concealer seems very whitish, but literally after a few seconds it “sits” on the skin and darkens. It goes well with any foundation, both “under” and “on”. And what does it do with pimples and redness! They simply disappear, and, believe it or not, inflammation goes away faster with it... It extinguishes and distributes perfectly, and the coverage can vary from light to dense.

About versatility: no.

It's a shame, of course, but no. Firstly, it has a non-liquid, creamy consistency that is difficult to use without a brush.

Terribly inconvenient packaging.

Secondly, the “load” in the form of foundation, which is, in principle, of ordinary quality.

Concealer Forget it! by Essence

Great concealer. Essence could easily release only this product. Soft creamy, very tender. I won’t say that it moisturizes or “lifts” like la prairie, but it’s pleasant: it doesn’t dry out the skin.

I question the quality and necessity of the pink and green compartments. Pink is very whitening. Uncompromising.

Experiments with green concealers showed that they don’t do anything good on my skin, so I won’t say anything about the “green” one from Essence. Here's the beige one. This is a fairytale. It covers everything: pimples, redness, dark circles. Blends well and lasts all day. When it disappears, it does not fall into folds and wrinkles, but tactfully “evaporates.”

And further. It's no secret that the vast majority of concealers "shine" excessively in artificial light, giving off an unnatural, moist shine on certain areas of the face. Festive photo shoots under flashes from the same series.... Therefore, for evening makeup, this gloss has to be either matted or “evened out with sparkles.” These, of course, are unnecessary structures on the face. So Forget it! does not give an unpleasant oily shine under the eyes. Exceptionally light shine. At least that's how it seemed to me.

About versatility: no.

Firstly, the same problem as with Skin Caviar Concealer: packaging. How can you, for example, put this in a travel cosmetic bag? You can’t use this without a brush, and if you can, then there won’t be a manicure…. Secondly, it rolls up into folds. Not instantly, and not after several hours, but after 20-30 minutes. It is important to catch this moment and correct the situation. This, of course, is not scary, because in the future it will be great to wear. But you can’t always afford a thirty-minute break between applying concealer and mascara, eye shadow, etc.

Of course not. And there was no hope. Serious disguise is too much for him. The maximum coverage density that can be achieved from it is average. Not in the collection of versatility is the “shine”, which is good for circles under the eyes, but not suitable for masking “embossed horrors”. And size.

For a travel or “hiking” cosmetic bag, this is far from the best option.

Just some advantages. Packaging: convenient sponge; a transparent “no surprises” tube, with which you don’t have to guess: “How much is left in there”? The product itself: the most pleasant consistency when blended, something between liquid and creamy. The shades are even, clean, without unnecessary impurities of yellowness or increased “pinkiness”. It applies amazingly, does not clump, does not spread. Stew as much as your heart desires.

Daylight and artificial lighting:

Allows you to achieve any coating density: from almost transparent with spot application, to dense with repeated application. Gives sufficient hydration when used in the eye area and excellent staying power. This is not matte and dry Double Wear from EL, or translucent concealer from shiseido. This is clinic! During the day it sits as if nailed down, does not crawl into folds or roll down. It masks everything. Apparently, the secret is in the mysterious “optical diffusers”, but everything stated by the manufacturer is true.
